INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS AND INVOLVEMENT

The Palm Coast Flagler County Alumnae Chapter strives to increase international awareness and promotes participation and education of global issues.  The International Awareness and Involvement Committee is dedicated to developing community programs designed to provide assistance, relief and resources to developing countries; as well as fostering local advocacy for social injustices and helping those in need.  This chapter's commitment to organizing change and encouraging cultural awareness is proudly demonstrated by it's current and past projects.

During the 2019-2020 sorority year, this chapter will focus on the following:

  • Providing financial support for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Elementary School, The Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre Campus in Cherrette, Haiti.  The school was opened on June 15, 2013 and named in honor of the sorority's 24th National President.

  • Collecting pill bottles and other essentials to under supplied pharmacies in the Republic of Ghana.  This initiative enables members of the chapter to support our brothers and sisters in Africa and providing them with an opportunity to receive their medications in a dignified manner.  As an added benefit, by recycling and reusing existing pill bottles, we are modeling ways to show kindness to Planet Earth and protecting our environment.

  • Participating in the Palm Coast Chapter of the Afro-American Caribbean Heritage Organization's annual Black Heritage Day Festival.  This event unifies the community though music, food, and a variety of cultural activities.
